J. Dalton Trimmer earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama. Dalton has gained practical legal experience serving as a law clerk for the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and as an office clerk for the Honorable Erin Welborn.

For Dalton, the most valuable aspect of serving on the Journal is its focus on trial advocacy and the practical execution of law itself, which has sharpened his core legal research and writing skills. His favorite course at Cumberland has been Legislation, where studying the principles of statutory interpretation broadened his analytical and rhetorical skills. Outside of law school, Dalton enjoys writing fiction, following market trends, playing Dungeons & Dragons, working through his reading list, and spending time with his rescue beagle, Oliver, who has been by his side throughout graduate and law school.
